JAKARTA, 28 May 2025 – Students from the Television and Film program at Fikom Unpad, Aisyah Aulia and Adrian Fauzi, have achieved a significant milestone by securing the 2nd place position in the prestigious Short Film Pitching Project (SFPP) held during the Europe on Screen (EoS) 2025 festival [cite]. Their winning project is titled “Pool Party”.
This accomplishment places them among the top emerging filmmakers in a highly competitive environment. The EoS festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has solidified its reputation as the longest-running foreign film festival in Indonesia [cite]. Running from 13–22 June 2025, the festival will screen 55 selected films from 27 European countries across seven cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Medan, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Yogyakarta.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Indonesia, Mr. Denis Chaibi, highlighted the festival’s role as a cultural bridge. “Europe on Screen edition 25 is an important milestone – not only for the European Union and its Member States, but also for the EU’s relationship with Indonesia,” he stated. “We are proud to present selected films that celebrate diverse European narratives while bridging the European and Indonesian film sectors to become even stronger”.
The Short Film Pitching Project (SFPP) is a cornerstone of the festival’s commitment to nurturing new talent, functioning as a short film funding competition for aspiring filmmakers [cite]. This year, the program’s prestige grew substantially, attracting a record-breaking 373 applicants, which is an 86% increase from the 197 applicants in 2024 [cite]. The program’s growing global recognition is evident as approximately 20% of this year’s submissions came from outside Indonesia.
“This shows that the spirit of creativity to continue making short films with boundless imagination and unique stories, especially for filmmakers in Indonesia, is growing and becoming more competitive,” said Nauval Yazid, Co-Director of the EoS 2025 Festival. The success of Aisyah and Adrian is a testament to their creative vision and skill. This achievement not only highlights the students’ individual talents but also underscores the success of educational programs that foster creative excellence. Such platforms, born from international collaboration, are crucial in providing equitable opportunities for young talents to develop their skills and contribute to the vibrant creative economy, turning academic knowledge into impactful cultural works. Their victory in such a competitive, global-reaching event marks a proud moment for their institution and serves as an inspiration for the next generation of Indonesian storytellers.
