JATINANGOR – The annual film festival organized by the 6th-semester Television and Film students of Fikom Unpad, Movie Event Padjadjaran (MONTAJ), successfully concluded its 2025 run from June 20-22. Held at the Postgraduate Building Auditorium, this year’s festival centered on the profound theme, “Frame of Mind,” exploring how an individual’s mental state and worldview are deeply influenced by the fulfillment of their needs.
Over three days, MONTAJ 2025 offered a rich and diverse experience for cinema lovers, featuring screenings of both competition and non-competition short films from talented filmmakers across Indonesia. The event was more than just a series of screenings; it was a holistic celebration of cinema, complete with immersive art exhibitions and engaging community forums designed to foster dialogue. Each film was carefully curated to serve as a distinct reflection of its creator’s unique perspective, giving the audience a powerful window into a variety of human experiences and psychological landscapes.
Beyond its artistic achievements, MONTAJ 2025 served as a vital platform for a conversation that is more important than ever, directly embodying the principles of Sustainable Development Goal – Good Health and Well-being. By centering on the “Frame of Mind” theme, the festival courageously placed mental health at the forefront of its creative dialogue. Each film acted as an exploration of a different psychological state, allowing audiences to build empathy and a deeper understanding of the complexities of the human mind. The accompanying forums provided a safe space to discuss these topics, helping to dismantle the stigma that often surrounds mental health. The event powerfully advocated that true well-being encompasses not just physical health but also mental and emotional fulfillment, using the accessible and compelling medium of film to make this crucial message resonate.Ultimately, MONTAJ 2025 succeeded on two fronts: it celebrated and provided a crucial platform for Indonesia’s emerging short filmmakers while simultaneously using its creative voice to champion a greater understanding of mental well-being. The festival stands as a testament to the vision of its student organizers and the power of art to illuminate, connect, and heal.
